As any amazing music player, Emmylou Harris received numerous awards over the course of her long career so far. Emmylou Harris started singing in the 1970s and is still going strong, with tours and albums, even if she is over 60 years old. Her beautiful voice and talented guitar skills have made her famous all over the world. In consequence, Emmylou Harris received numerous awards over the course of the years and is still gaining nominations for future shows. Among the best awards she has gained are those given by the Grammy Awards and the Country Music Association Awards.

The Grammy Awards have given her honors since 1976. The first trophy she won was for the Best Country Vocal Performance, Female category, with the song Elite Hotel. Then in 1979, Emmylou Harris won in the same category with Blue Kentucky Girl. Again, in 1984, the award for the Best Country Vocal, Female came to her, to honor the song In My Dreams. Another category, in which Emmylou Harris appeared frequently in the beginning years of her career, was the Best Country Performance by a Duo or a Group , in 1980, 1987 and 1992. Emmylou Harris finally won the Best Contemporary Folk Album category, in 1995, for the release of Wrecking Ball. She won the same category again in 2000 for the Red Dirt Girl album. Probably the most important Grammy trophy was the Album of the Year award she received for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, in 2001. The Country Music Association also gave her the Album of the Year trophy in the same year, for the same release. In addition to this, Emmylou Harris was given the Female Vocalist of the Year Award, in 1980, and the Vocal Event of the Year, in 1988, for her performances alongside Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton.

Emmylou Harris is a great singer and music maker. She has proven her talents and skills over and over again, throughout her entire career and she received many awards, which certify this situation. Her latest tour is still going strong in 2012!
